Tandoori Masala is a bold, smoky, tangy Indian grill seasoning built to play beautifully with fire, whether a backyard grill or a hot oven. It makes perfect tandoori chicken, paneer tikka, and roasted vegetables every time. Unlike most conventional tandoori masalas, ours is completely free of artificial colors and instead gets its deep red hue from cockscomb flowers sourced from Kashmir.

Cooking Tips

Whip up an easy marinade.

Mix 4 tbsp Tandoori Masala with ¾ cup yogurt, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp neutral oil, and 1½ tsp salt. Use for chicken, fish, paneer, or veggies.

Make tandoori turkey burgers.

Mix 3 tbsp Tandoori Masala with 1 lb ground dark meat turkey, form into four patties, and cook in a cast iron pan or grill.

Tandoori Masala meets Mac ‘n’ Cheese.

Add 1 to 2 tbsp Tandoori Masala to the butter and flour when making a roux for macaroni and cheese. Or for boxed mac, bloom 1 to 2 tsp of the masala in the milk before adding it with the butter and cheese powder (this will remove the raw spice taste).

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Diaspora Spice Co.'s Tandoori Masala different?

Our Tandoori Masala is made from freshly harvested, single-origin spices sourced directly from our farm partners across South Asia. Instead of artificial dyes, its vibrant color comes naturally from Kashmiri cockscomb flowers, while layers of warming spices create the bold, smoky, tangy flavor that defines great tandoori cooking.

How do I use Diaspora Spice Co.'s Tandoori Masala?

For a classic tandoori marinade, mix Tandoori Masala with plain yogurt, lemon juice, a little neutral oil, and salt, then coat chicken, fish, paneer, tofu, or vegetables before grilling, roasting, or air frying. It also works beautifully as a seasoning for burgers, roasted potatoes, cauliflower, and other vegetables.

What is tandoori masala used for?

Tandoori Masala is traditionally used to marinate proteins and vegetables before they're cooked over high heat, whether in a tandoor, on a grill, or in the oven. It's perfect for chicken, seafood, paneer, tofu, kebabs, and vegetables, bringing smoky, tangy, deeply spiced flavor to every bite.

Is Tandoori Masala a good seasoning for chicken?

Absolutely. Tandoori Masala is one of the most iconic spice blends for chicken, creating a deeply flavorful marinade that's aromatic, savory, and lightly tangy. It's equally delicious on wings, thighs, whole chickens, skewers, or boneless cuts, and works just as well with seafood and vegetables.

Can I use Tandoori Masala beyond traditional tandoori recipes?

Yes! Tandoori Masala is far more versatile than its name suggests. Stir it into yogurt dips, sprinkle it over roasted vegetables, season fries or popcorn, add it to soups or grain bowls, or use it anywhere you want bold, smoky, layered flavor with a bright tangy finish.

Can I update my address for a single shipment?

If you are going to be away from your usual address when the next shipment of The Good Pepper Subscription is due, you can add a new address that you would like the pepper to reach you at. Like with all edits to your subscription, you can update this as well once you login to your profile on our site and head to "Manage Subscriptions" to make the change.  Alternatively, you can also choose to skip or cancel your shipment. Feel free to write to us atinfo@diasporaco.liveif you have any trouble with this process.

When do the spices expire? How long do they last?

Most of the spices are good 2 years from the mill date, which is listed on the harvest label sticker on the jar or bag. That being said, our spices are extremely potent and fresh as we take incredible care to source yearly and aim for quality, so 2 years is our most conservative guideline, compared to most spices in the grocery store which are often 5-10 years old upon purchase.

Do you sell wholesale?

We do! You can search for our wholesalers using our store locator here. And if you are a wholesaler and don’t see yourself on the locator, please email wholesale@diasporaco.live and we will add you to this ASAP! Thank you!

Are all your spices organic?

Our farm partners have been cultivating spices using practices that go "beyond organic" for well over five years. Although they haven't obtained USDA certification yet, this is primarily because the initial certification can be costly and may lead to cycles of debt. To meet USDA standards, four years of inspections and certificates are required after the first certification. However, we consider this process redundant and unnecessary since we conduct thorough testing on every batch we procure. It's a prerequisite for Diaspora Co. to select farm partners whose soil health and agricultural practices align with our internal standards of growing food regeneratively.
